Her doe brown eyes scanned the hallways. It was empty as it always was. There was only six people living in the entire mansion, so it shouldn't surprised Avalon as much as it did. It had been two weeks since she arrived in Eden, and it had started to become almost comfortable to the girl. She didn't have to worry about making money, finding a place to sleep, or where her next meal would come from. Well, for now.
She took another chip from the bag in her other hand and placed it in her mouth while she made her way around the second floor. "Empty room, empty room, empty room. How many people was this place designed to hold?" She asked herself, popping another chip in.
Despite being in a place with people hated her for being a theif and her roommate was a raging psychopath that was liable to slit her throat at any moment, Eden wasn't all that bad. It was better than the other places she had stayed at in the past, and that was something to be said. Avalon took a deep breath and pushed her way into the movie room door, wincing at the slight pain in her shoulder from the impact.
With a seemingly endless supply of movies, the room was her sanctuary. Avalon loved immersing herself into a good film where she could forget the world around her. Her eyes searched the rows upon rows of DVD's, old VHS tapes and even some new Blu-rays. Gone With the Wind caught her eye and she smiled. It was weird that the 'master' knew his inmates so well as to stock their favorite movies. She grabbed it off the shelf and skipped over to the tower of electronic machines, placing the DVD into the player and snuggling down into one of the over-stuffed couches as the previews started to play.
Maybe Eden wasn't such a bad place.

Boredom was not Jay's forte. That meant that the teen almost had to be doing something interesting or different every twenty minutes or else he would go insane. The teen swore up and down that he had ADD sometimes, but his mom wasn't convinced enough to get him tested.
Suddenly the boy groaned before letting his hands fall onto the piano keys. It produced a pretty loud and horrible noise that brought a smile to the boy's face. It was too quiet and creepy in this place anyway.
He had been trying to write a new song on the piano, but today was obviously not one of those 'creative days' that he occasionally had. Time to find something else to do to pass the time. Jay got up and looked around the room before walking out of it. He normally liked the music room, but he didn't feel like trying to play anymore instruments right now and none of the board games caught his eye. He needed someone else to play with anyway.
That's what Jay needed, company. The boy practically skipped down the hallway, a sight that probably would have been hilarious to see. There needed to be more people in this place, and less violents. Jay didn't like the violents. Oh well, desperate times call for desperate measures he guessed. His best friend was MIA right now, so he had to find someone else to hang out with.
Suddenly, a noise from another room caught his attention. It was coming from the movie room, which meant someone was watching a movie. Perfect. Jay opened the door and looked toward the screen. He didn't recognize the movie, but it didn't seem like a horror movie so he was good. The teen also noticed the blood red hair poking over the couch. He didn't know the girl's name, but he knew that she wasn't one of the violents. Even more perfect. Jay walked over to the couch and climbed over the back of it, falling into the seat. “So whatcha watching?” He asked, looking over at her. Ooh! Food! Jay smirked and grabbed the bag of chips from her before his brain could tell him not to. He was hungry and she had food, what did you think was going to happen? Jay hoped that she wasn't secretly an aggressive non-violent person and that she wouldn't try to beat him up or something for stealing her chips.

Avalon sunk deeper into the couch, stretching out her tanned legs. It had been too long since she had enjoyed a simple movie. Gone With the Wind had just enough drama, comedy and action to keep her attention, despite the film being over four hours long. The teen pulled her hair over her shoulder, braiding a small section behind her ear and pulling the braid loose repeatedly.
"If either of you boys says "war" just once again, I'll go in the house and slam the door," Avalon mimicked the actresses deep southern voice, a smile gracing her lips.
The girl jumped as the new guy hopped over the back of the couch, pulling her legs back to her body before he could sit on them. "Holy catfish! Was that necessary?" She sat up, gripping the cushion of the couch with one hand and her other hand on her heart. Avalon sized up the boy, her guard up once again. The face wasn't familiar, and that meant he had to be the new hacker.
A cyber. Her mind stopped racing, finally calming down enough to let her breathe. Today was not the day for her anxiety to take over. "You know, it's not a good idea to go around jumping on people. Some people here aren't as forgiving." Avalon sank back into her spot, letting the boy take the chips from her. "It's Gone With the Wind. The first full color film to be made." She glanced back to the screen to see the heroine pinch her cheeks to give them some color. She pulled her hair back out from behind her ear and started to braid it again, stealing looks at the cyber, trying to think of his name of the top of her head. James? Jeremy? Jordan. . . Jason! Avalon nodded to her inner voice, leaning over to steal the bag of chips back.
"My chips." She stuck her tongue out, her immature streak coming out. Jason didn't seem like too bad of a guy, if not just a little rambunctious to find something to do in the castle.

“Holy catfish? Never heard that one before. And yes, that was completely necessary.” Jay replied. He shot a grin at the red-haired girl. She seemed to be sizing him up. He wondered what she thought about him. When he had hopped over the back of the couch he hadn’t noticed that she had her legs stretched out across it, whoops. At least she moved them before he landed on them.
The girl apparently decided that he was okay or something because she seemed to relax a little more. He nodded at her words. “Technically, I jumped on the couch. Your legs just happened to be here. I’ll keep that in mind though.” Jay rested his feet on the coffee table as he looked at the screen. He grabbed a handful of chips out of the bag. Jay had a feeling that the girl was going to take the bag back pretty soon, so he wanted to get some chips out of it at least. He nodded when she said that the movie was Gone With the Wind. He wasn’t sure if he had ever seen it before.
Jay noticed that the girl kept sneaking glances at him. After she did this a few times, he looked back over at her. Jay grinned again. “A picture lasts longer,” he said jokingly. He knew that she probably wasn’t actually checking him out or anything, he just liked to pretend to be cocky. Jay hoped that she wasn’t checking him out; that would just be weird. He’d know how straight guys felt when he checked them out then he guessed.
Jason looked down when she stole the bag of chips back before looking over at her. His face was a mixture of shock and ’girl, I know you did not just steal my chips,’ that was so obviously fake. He stuck his tongue back out at her. “Uh-uh those are mine! I stole them fair and square!” Jay said, sounding like he belonged in elementary school.
He let her keep the chips. Jay looked at the red-haired girl. He needed to know her name. It was annoying to have to keep calling her ‘girl’ in his head. “I’m Jason Von Michtenspurt the twenty-seventh, nice to meet you. Normally I just go by Jay though.” He said, sticking his hand out. Jay was obviously not being serious with his name, but when was the teen actually serious? He wasn’t sure how he came up with the ‘von Michtenspurt the twenty-seventh’ part, it just kind of popped into his head and he went with it.

Avalon rolled her eyes as she tucked her legs beside her, "You mean I can't stare at the real thing for the next few hours?" She replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "You're cute, buddy, but not that cute." She patted his shoulder. Stealing a chip from his hand, despite having the entire bag, Avalon leaned back into her cushion. "I was just trying to figure out your name, but now I know it." The red head smirked and looked back to the screen.
She stiffened her laugh as he reacted to her stealing the bag back and relaxed. "Too bad I stole my chips back from you! Therefore they're mine once again!" Avalon exclaimed triumphantly, putting a hand on her hip like a super hero would before busting out in a full blown laugh.
Bobbing her head back and forth a few times, Avalon held the bag out to Jason to share. "Well, being a thief myself, I suppose I should honor the thieves code." She smiled, but didn't it quite make her eyes. Avalon wasn't proud of her status inside Eden but she had to admit to what she was. Being a Liar meant many things, everything from gambling to actually falsifying legal documents. Even though she was a thief, Avalon was one of the most honest people you could meet. If she stole something, and someone caught her, she would admit to it.
Her eyes widened slightly, not even sure she could pronounce his last name. It wasn't that his last name mattered, there were so few people in the castle that if she found his file, she could learn his real name. "My Lord, that's a lot of 'Jason's in your family, dude. Thankfully, I know better." She winked playfully at him and took his hand in her left, shaking it briefly. "Avalon. But since most people around here have no clue how to say my name in its beautiful entirity, feel free to call me Ava." She gave a small, crooked smile. A little cocky? Yeah, that was typical Ava.
It was nice to hang out with another person who wasn't a real threat to her, physically. There were too many violent 'Type A' personalities for one castle as it stood. She didn't know how many more people would be arriving in the following months, but she knew the eerie silence that seemed to come hand in hand with Eden wouldn't exist for much longer.

Jay couldn't help but crack a smile at the girl's words. He honestly couldn't care less if she thought that he was good looking or not. Maybe if he was straight her words would affect him, but he didn't have to worry about it. She was as appealing as his sister sexually, which meant that the thought of anything like that was completely disgusting to him.
His gaze moved down to his hand as he watched the girl take one of his chips. She had the whole bag! Greedy much? “Hey! Get your own!” He said looking over at her. Jay nodded when she said that she was just trying to figure out his name. He felt relieved. “Good. It's weird when girls check me out,” he said without actually thinking about his words before they left his mouth.
Jay ate some of the chips in his hand, trying to protect them from getting stolen by the girl. He looked at the screen for a little bit. Jay snorted when she looked like she was trying to mimic a superhero's pose. He only saw it out of the corner of his eye, but still. He couldn't help but to laugh with the girl. Company was exactly what he needed to cure his boredom. Jay looked over when she said something about honoring a thieves code. He smiled warmly at her and took another handful of chips.
There was a smile on the girl's lips, but it stopped before it reached her eyes. He could tell that she wasn't proud that she was a thief. To be honest, he wouldn't be either. Jay was ashamed that he helped Matt steal stuff. He couldn't imagine how he'd feel if he was the one actually taking the stuff from other people instead of just disarming the security in buildings so his friend could take stuff from it. “I helped my best friend steal stuff before I got put in here. I'd hack into the store's security systems and disarm them so it'd be easier for him to get in and out.”
Jason grinned as Avalon winked playfully at him. “I know right? My family has no originality whatsoever, they just keep using the same name over and over. I'm glad that isn't my name though, I'm not even sure how you would spell Michtenspurt.” Avalon, that was a cool name. “Well, it's nice to meet you Ava. I was beginning to think that everyone here was violent but me.”

Avalon blinked, as if surprised by his sexual orientation. That explains a lot, she thought then popped another chip into her mouth. Her eyes wandered back to the screen during the silence. Avalon watched as Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler bickered at one another. Their relationship was so unconvential. There was no love, no compassion between the two Southern characters and yet they seemed to work together perfectly.
No one really exists like that in this world, Avalon stretched her arms above her head and looked over at Jason as he spoke about helping his friend steal, indirectly. "So you've seen how fast a person goes down hill." She glanced down at her hands, twisting her ring around her finger. The ring, of course, had been stolen before she was brought to Eden. Not that it mattered that it was stolen any longer.
"People steal for different reasons. I can understand hating someone who steals for the thrill of it, but people also steal to survive in the world. I've been in the latter situation for most of my life. And even when I try to justify it, my heart and brain tells me its more than wrong." Avalon sighed, tilting her head to the side to look at Jason then she smiled. "Sorry, I didn't mean to unload on you. Hell, no one here knows that much about me." Ava laughed and stood up, stretching her legs further.
Though what she had said was true, she didn't completely feel bad for stealing. Most of the people she stole from had too much material possessions in the first place, but a friend would be better than being alone. "Yeah, it seems like just the two of us are the even headed at Eden." Avalon plopped back down, placing her legs over the back of the couch and her head over the edge of the seat. "Now, don't feel obligated to answer this, but is helping your friend the reason you're here?" She questioned.
